No, Spain has been playing only as good as they have to -- not in an arrogant way, but they just never get too far ahead because their strategy is to lay back and wait until the opposition makes a mistake. Unfortunately, the Netherlands can play that game as well, so NOTHING HAPPENED in the first 90 minutes of play. The commentator had two choice things to say during regulation time:
"A display of the best of European football is not what we have here."
and
"Here's another chilling statistic: neither of these teams have scored in extra time." (That would have meant another 30 minutes of nothing followed by a shoot-out.)
Luckily, both sides came to play in extra time. A goal was scored 5 minutes before the end of extra time, which seemed very decisive because it wasn't likely that the Dutch would have been able to score with so little time left.
